Caroline Brooks, daughter of financier Derek Quinlan, is selling her trophy home in Sandymount, which she bought for €9.5 million in 2006. The then sellers, accountant John Carney and his wife, received a tax-free windfall for the house they bought in 1974 for circa e50,000.
Finian O’ Sullivan, the Galway geologist who earned e80m from the sale of his Burren Energy oil company for e2.8 billion in 2008 is preparing to float another company on London’s stock markets. The new firm, Bayfield energy, may be floated as early as next summer.
Corkman Liam Casey is considering floating his fast-growing smartphone accessory business; the move could value the company at close to e300m. The company had close to e320m in sales last year. It was founded 16 years ago by Casey, who has a e100m stake in the company, based on current valuations.
Smurfit Kappa’s Gary McCann, Tony Smurfit and Ian Curley received up to e2.2m of share awards in the company, it was reported this week.
