Property developer Paddy McKillen's legal action against the British billionaires Freddie and David Barclay will begin in March, 2012. McKillen is suing the Daily Telegraph owners to gain control of the Maybourne Hotel Group that owns Claridges, the Connaught, and the Berkeley hotels in London. He is the biggest shareholder in Coroin, the company formed when McKillen, financier Derek Quinlan and other investors purchased the hotels for €1.1bn in 2004. The reclusive developer owns 36.5% of that company. The Barclay brothers purchased the hotels' €800m worth of loans from NAMA earlier this year.

China has built up a 1% stake in Aidan Heavey's Tullow Oil, holding a €140m stake in the oil company. China has been widely linked as a potential buyer of Tullow.

Tony Collins whose ventures include Genesis and Mindy Brownes is creating 45 jobs with a food, homewares and gift store “Red Earth” in Mullingar. At present Genesis and Mindy Brownes employ 60 people and have turnover of about €8million.

Monaghan Mushrooms, the Irish mushroom producer, has teamed up with Gimv, a Belgian private equity company to acquire Walkro International, a leading producer of substrate for the cultivation of mushroom.  Monaghan Mushrooms, founded by Ronnie Wilson has more than 2,750 employees and annual sales of €275m.  It has operations in Ireland, Britian, American and Canada.  It is the largest supplier of mushrooms to the British supermarket multiples.
